Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday met Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi, skipper Darren Sammy and batting mentor Hashim Amla at his official residence in Islamabad.
The prime minister congratulated Sammy for receiving the highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, as well as the honorary citizenship for his services to Pakistan cricket.
“I congratulate you on receiving honorary citizenship of Pakistan,” said Imran.
“Your services with regards to return of cricket in Pakistan will forever be remembered.”
The prime minister also expressed his joy over the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 being staged entirely in the country.
“It’s great to see entire PSL taking place in Pakistan. The stadiums are filled up which sends a positive image of the country to the international community,” he said.
Earlier in February, the PM met fellow cricketing greats Sir Vivian Richards, Greg Chappell and Shane Watson.
